Wouldn't you blow 3 Stones if you could?
Soo, If Stevie Nicks is my ultimate girl crush, Anita Pallenberg would rate as the girl I would most wish to meet up with in the powder room. This former fling of Mick Jagger via Keith Richards via Brian Jones has a wardrobe I would sell my child for (well, maybe my brother's child,,,I would pick one he doesn't use frequently). Regardless, inspiration worthy indeed.
-----------------------------------

For the boys...
Julien and I have been planning a huge shopping trip and trying to decide between Paris or London for the store. I was lucky enough to find a man who loves clothes and shopping almost as much as I do,,,but he is far pickier and has far less choices. On previous vintage trips to Seattle and San Francisco it was near impossible for him to find anything he liked where as I was about ready to walk out with numerous bags at each shop we went into. We really want to put an emphasis on mens clothing at Voodoo Moonshine but were having troubles looking for inspiration on things to buy so I started researching typical mens wear and realized it was is all a little too dandy for us. I discovered the biggest problem we have is that French Men have more options in clothes than American Men and can pull most of it off with elegance,,,but the vast majority of American men would look extremely gay trying to copy (I will not mention anything in particular save *coughcoughscarfabuse*). In France I've mostly noticed the Chelsea Boots, Albert Camus and standard Pea Coat Trenches, but hoping to see what London has to offer men. Wish us luck!!!
---------------------------
While researching though I had to take the time out to pay homage to some of my favorite men of style, I love it when a man dresses like a man and any form of trying too hard is rather repulsive. It could be my father and brothers influence as strong Southern American boys, but if I could make my own male barbie to dress and design, these would be my inspirations. Waylon, Leon, George, Devendra and Bruce,,,god bless.
-----------------------
Devendra, George, Bruce, Waylon, Leon.... god bless.

The humble appologies of a bad, bad blogger.
I realize that I have been very neglectful to the point of abuse with my blog,,,but man o man... what a busy couple of months!!! I'm not the most comfortable with blogging all details of my personal life but since June, I have moved to France, married my beautiful partner in San Francisco, started a new business (Voodoo Moonshine Vintage, more on that to come) and been back and forth between France, Seattle and one last trip to SF to get my French Visa. So now that the dust has finally settled a bit, I'm back in creative and work mode. I am currently revamping the blog and facebook sites to try and make everything a little more up to date and easy to follow, as well as getting the shop in order and current vintage ready to sell before Christmas. Julien and I are also planning a shopping trip to Paris and London within the next few weeks for the store, so stay tuned for all the new vintage pieces we will be able to bring you!!
---------------------------------

Phenomenal Woman
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need for my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

The other Dylan...
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

My lovely Anais..........
It was a bizarre bipolar weather day here in Seattle with sunshine one minute and hail the next. In a way I thought it was very feminine...its a very sensual way the clouds roll in from off the horizon darkening everything to a greenish sepia glow...perfect for a little reading. Inspired by the weather I pulled out an old favorite Delta of Venus,,,Julien is still in France so I don't feel too guilty bringing it out {shhhhhh!!!} and even though I must have read everything Anais Nin has ever written at least twice, for some reason her quotes were jumping out at me coming to life....I could almost hear her gracefully accented purr as she told me the exact words I had needed to hear. I won't bore you with too much detail but roll these pretties around in your mind for a little...It was almost like a soothing balm for me, the older sister sharing her wisdom. I'm sure you can dig ;-)
"We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are." Anais Nin
"I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a women." Anais Nin
"There came a time where the risk to remain tight in the bud, was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Anais Nin

A nostalgic look at my mother's jewelry
My mother is part Native American and part Romani Gypsy (some Irish and Slavic in there as well but let's not ruin the romance) and both cultures had a thing for over sized colored jewelry...my mother and her sisters especially included circa the `1980's. Anyhow, as a little girl I used to look at pieces such as these as a symbol of adulthood because my entire family wore the big gaudy silver eagles and over sized stones. I remember looking at my aunt's finger that had swollen past the point of comfort around her large silver turquoise ring (that I now own) and she wore it with such pride. In those day's I was certain I would grow up into a ballerina and dance far far away from my poorly dressed and accessorized family although now as an adult (or at least cleverly disguised as one) I would squeeze out every last childhood tear all over again just to go back and play in these womens closets and jewelry boxes. My mother and aunts prefer more modest jewelry these days although staying true to there native roots, and somehow I find myself pining over days of fashion lost. I can not get enough of the handmade American turquoise jewelry. I will be taking Julien to some of the old reservations of the southwest this summer to buy jewelry and art and we should be able to bring enough back to France to share. It's a must have for every summer wardrobe.
A sad tale of love and loss,...the one that got away....
Putting your best foot forward.....

Tell me these weren't made for a sabbath.
Freedom is my artform.
So maybe it's a cliché, I am American and obsessed with Easy Rider....but fuck it, it could be worse. It's all about freedom my brothers and sisters ;-) Dig and enjoy.
Get your motor runnin......
And we're off...about me says it all so just sit back and enjoy the ride. xo
